Facing any move can be stressful, challenging and confusing no matter what your circumstances, and particularly so if you are relocating to New York City- one of the largest, most expensive and intimidating (not to mention thrilling) cities in the world.
Finding a roommate and an apartment all while learning the ins-and-outs of job hunting, budgeting, and public transportation, among other things, can seem like a daunting task to new residents of New York City.
Luckily, you don’t have to be alone through this process. Founder Sarah Beth Hill has been through it all- and some- and her team is here to hold your hand throughout the entire process. Perfect Strangers of NYC offers a multitude of affordable services to ensure that your moving process is what it should be- exciting!
Sarah Beth Hill is the founder of Perfect Strangers of NYC (PSofNYC), the first and only personal roommate matchmaking company.
Sarah’s passion for real estate began in high school when she worked for a local real estate entrepreneur flipping homes and building new construction in Rochester, NY. Her interest continued to flourish while she attended UMass Amherst. Sarah created her own major in Real Estate and Entrepreneurship through the Bachelors Degree with Individual Concentration program. During her college years, she received her real estate license and spent summers in New York City working for a brokerage firm. Sarah’s last semester of college was spent abroad interning for the Tower Hamlet’s planning board in London. Quickly upon graduation Sarah received a full time position at a mid sized real estate management company in Manhattan.
After facing the trials of her own big-city move post-university, Sarah realized that there was a need for reliable information about the process of moving to NYC. She started a blog that covered many topics one would need to know prior to their move. She also uncovered how to live in the city affordably and which neighborhoods were best for young professionals. Her blog, “Moving to NYC 101” quickly became popular and many started to turn to Sarah for help finding housing. The majority of the inquiries were coming from those who needed roommates and weren’t comfortable using Craigslist. This ultimately led her to create Perfect Strangers of NYC.
PSofNYC has grown rapidly since launching in March of 2012. Sarah has matched over 350 roommates and the demand continues to increase. There are many exciting things ahead for Sarah and her boutique company including a new webseries called “The Savvy Renter”, a College Brand Ambassador program staring in the spring and adding additional roommate matchers to her team.
Sarah has been quoted and featured in TimeOut Magazine, Brick Underground, Ask A New Yorker, Give Me Astoria and has been rated one of the top real estate agents according to Yelp.
