BIO:

Michigan native James Felton II started training at Sandra Brewer’s Dance Connection and later with Flint Youth Ballet under the direction of Karen Mills-Jennings. James began teaching, choreographing, and coaching for SBDC’s recreational and competitive classes in 2015, and in 2019 received his Level 1 Sub Junior – Adv. Certification in Progressing Ballet Technique™. Graduating from Western Michigan University in the Spring of 2021, James earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (Cum Laude) in Dance Performance and Choreography while working as a freelance Guest Artist, Instructor, and Choreographer, throughout Michigan’s lower peninsula. James joined West Hartford’s Ballet Theatre Company as a Guest Artist in the Spring of 2022, in the 2022-2023 season he joined as Company Artist, School Faculty, Guest Choreographer and Social Media Content Creator. Since relocating to New England James has also appeared as a Guest Artist with City Ballet of Boston, Dimensional Dance, and AMA Dance Theatre. James’ repertoire includes Principal and Soloist roles in The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Les Sylphides, Paquita, Giselle, Le Corsaire, and The Four Temperaments in addition to original works by choreographers Darrel Grand Moulterie, Jennifer Archibald, Mike Esperanza, David Curwen, Seyong Kim, Monique Haley, Stephanie Dattellas, Melanie Ramos and more. James can be found serving as Dance Captain as well as performing in the Ensemble of Playhouse On Park Theatre’s Bandstand, on stage July 14 – Aug. 20. James will join Eglevsky Ballet on Long Island as a Company Artist and Faculty member for the 2023-2024 season.
